"Strong praise too for the production from Brian Bedford that is as crisp and clear as I have heard on a traditional record for many years." - Maverick Magazine, July 2007, in a great review of The Outside Track's debut self-titled album.

A small, friendly digital recording studio, specialising in recording acoustic music, both vocal and instrumental, Park Head Studio is set in a rural village location, high up in the West Yorkshire Pennines, close to Denby Dale and Holmfirth and convenient for Huddersfield, Barnsley, Sheffield, Leeds, Wakefield & Manchester.

"...and Brian Bedford (who's responsible for the disc's state-of-the-art engineering and production values) even contributes backing vocals on one track." Stirrings, March 2009, in a good review of Midnight's Special's debut CD, 'Arriving'.

It is owned and operated by Brian Bedford, songwriter, singer and 'cellist, known to many as one third of the internationally renowned vocal trio, Artisan. Please enquire for very competitive rates for either studio or location recording.

"...and with a supportive Brian Bedford production, the disc really can't go far wrong" - Tykes News, March 2009, in a favourable review of Peter and Barabara Snape's 'Take to the Green Fields'.

Audio Recording Facilities

  • Friendly, patient engineer and calm working environment . We can sometimes offer accommodation if you prefer to immerse yourself in recording for a few days or we can recommend several excellent local B&Bs.
  • Hours are flexible to suit you.
  • Digital recording and editing with virtually unlimited possibilities for multi-tracking.
  • Digital transfers to and from other studios - worldwide.
  • We have other formats (ADAT / DAT and even tape) if you need to rescue old recordings.
  • A range of good quality microphones, inc. Neumann. The right microphone for the right voice or instrument makes a world of difference to capturing a true, clean sound recording.
  • In addition there are all the bells and whistles you could wish for. Simple or complex and multi-layered, it's your project - your choice!
  • Do you need help with production? Many people know exactly what they want, but others want help with musical decisions. Just ask for details. We can help you with production values and even recommend session musicians if you need additional instrumentation but don't have the contacts.

"This studio offers a relaxed friendly atmosphere which is totally conducive to excellence in performance." - Karen Tweed

Live Location Recording

  • Fully portable multi-track recording system so larger choirs, orchestras, bands or school/music school groups can be recorded straight to stereo or on multiple channels and then mixed in the studio.
  • Recording of live concerts with all the atmosphere of a live audience in the best possible venue for your music.
  • Pick your own location. Especially appropriate if your choir or orchestra relies on specific instruments in fixed places (say a church organ) or if it needs a large-size recording space because of the number of performers.
  • Wherever you are, we can travel.
"Crystal-clear production values let each instrument breathe clear, so that their eclectic mix of fiddle, flute, box, guitar
and clarsach step in and out of the limelight with an agility that leaves ego outside the door."

- Siobhan Long – The Irish Times review of The Outside Track

CD Duplication and Manufacturing

  • At the end of your recording session you can just walk away with your CD master, but if you want a good deal on pressing, we can either offer advice or undertake the whole job from artwork through to delivery of film-wrapped product. We can also help if you need guidance on complying with copyright legislation, doing MCPS returns and registering for PPL. Easy!
  • Small runs of CD-Rs can be duplicated in-house for demos, either without side-print or (more expensive) with. So if you only want (say) a run of 50 or 100 disks, we can oblige. The break-even point for having a run pressed rather than duplicated is about 150 units. i.e. you can have 500 manufactured with on-body print and glossy coloured booklets and back-trays for the same price as you can get 150 CDRs duplicated, labelled and booklets printed or copied. It's all down to different processes and economy of scale.
  • We can arrange a total CD manufacturing package - hassle free - or give advice on manufacture.
  • Competitive prices on runs as low as 500 units - with the product delivered packaged complete with print and film-wrapped. Booklets can be up to twenty pages; CDs can have full colour on-body print for very little extra.
  • We can arrange artwork and cover photography or we will work with your graphic designer.
  • When you've got your CD, how do you promote it? We supply a free list of radio and press contacts.
